We're getting serious about remodeling our basement. We had a flood from the washing machine about a year ago and have not done anything to it. I really wanted to do the "pay as we go plan" but looking at the amount of progress we've accomplished so far... looks like we're not getting very far. Now I'm stuck in the too many choices rut. I need you to vote on the best bathroom floor plan. The kids will be moving dowstairs and the bathroom will be shared between the 2 of them. I think we'll most likely have a double sink on any plan, the big difference is the placement/privacy of the bathroom. I thought it might be an issue with a girl and boy sharing the bathroom. The box in the corner is a linen closet. Am I thinking too hard? Anyway, give me a vote for 1, 2, or 3 (in order).

#3, by far dual vanities should outweigh singles hands down. It will increase the value of your bathroom. Also, you could have the door to your linen closet face outside in the hall instead of inside the bathroom (where it will be hard to get to unless the door is shut).
UM SORRY- and #3 it is how our bathroom is set up now and it is great. Don't worry about the privacy thing- if they are using the shower or toilet they should be in there alone so a 1/2 wall won't really make a difference. And I agree with steph- the Linen closet should open to the hall if you have one at all.
i don't know, 1 an 3 are the same mostly... i think 3 is good, but i would most definitely want the cupboard to open into the bathroom(so you don't have to wander naked into the hall to get a towel, drip drip drip), so maybe the door can open the other way.
also, with kids and kid toys and kid bathroom stuff you need all the storage space you can get. so definitely have to have access to the closet. whichever one has the toilet on the away from both the tub and the sink - is that an option? to decrease the likelihood of things falling into the toilet. i hate it when things fall in there.
sorry i had to look again because i couldn't remember what my options were like.
so maybe i like #2 so that the little wall can prevent things from falling into the toilet. and maybe you don't need the rest of the wall, but still change it so the closet opens to the inside of the bathroom.
